Dr. Abid Faqir, United Kingdom

Abid Faqir graduated from the Glasgow Dental School before undertaking his Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery in Edinburgh and a Masters Degree at Glasgow University. He has further gained a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Edinburgh. He has had extensive training both in the UK and overseas in the field of implantology. Abid limits his practice to the treatment and the management of complex cases, including digital planning. He has a particular interest in immediate loading and soft tissue grafting and regularly lectures both nationally and internationally. Abid is currently the President of the Association of Dental Implantology. He has also been appointed in the past to the editorial board for the publication Implant Dentistry and as a committee member of the British Society of Oral Implantology.

Dr. Barbara Sobczak, Poland

Graduated from Warsaw Medical University in 2007 and Goethe Universität in Frankfurt am Main in 2017. ITI Fellow. Medical Consultant for Straumann in Poland. Center of Excellence for Education in Oral Implantology. Owner of clinics in Poland: Dr Sobczak Klinika Radosc and Dr Sobczak Klinika Babice.

Prof. Daniel Buser, Switzerland

Prof. Buser is one of the most experienced implant surgeons with 35 years of surgical experience, and a pioneer of micro-rough implant surfaces, and of the GBR technique. He has been Professor and Chairman at the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland. He served as President of various academic associations including the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology (SSOI), and the ITI. He was also member of the Board of Directors of the Osteology Foundation. He still serves as President of the Swiss Implant Foundation. He received several scientific awards by professional organizations such as the ITI, the AO, the AAP and the AAOMS. His main research areas are in tissue regeneration around dental implants, surface technology and Guided Bone Regeneration. He published with his team more than 400 articles, case reports and book chapters. He is also Editor of the GBR Book. The 3rd edition of the GBR Book will be published in March 2021.

Prof. Dean Morton, USA

Prof. Dean Morton studied dentistry at the University of Sydney, and completed an MS and Certificate in Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa. He is Professor and Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at Indiana University. He also serves as Director of the Center for Implant, Esthetic and Innovative Dentistry. Prof. Morton is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and a fellow of the Academy of Prosthodontics, American College of Prosthodontists and the International College of Dentists. He is a fellow of the International Team for Implantology, serving on the Board of Directors. He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, and serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Clinical Advances in Periodontics and the Open Dental Journal. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles, and has authored the ITI Treatment Guide, Volume 2., Loading Protocols in Implant Dentistry. He lectures both nationally and internationally on implants and esthetic dentistry, and maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics, Implant and Aesthetic Dentistry.

Dr. Edgard El Chaar, USA

Dr. El Chaar completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, his post-graduate education in Advanced Periodontics and Dental Implants, and received a Master in Oral Biology all from New York University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. Member and Fellow of Implant Team of Implantology (ITI) and serves on the education committee, and Member of American academy of Periodontology and Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. El Chaar is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry and the Director of Advanced Education Program in Periodontics at New York University College of Dentistry. Former Director and Founder of Advanced Education Program in Periodontics at Lutheran Medical Center. He has a thriving private practice in New York City that specializes in dental implants and Periodontal disease. He is the founder of EEC Institute, a continuing education and research institution focused on the advancement of clinical periodontics and implant dentistry. He is a retired Major in the US Army. He travels several times a year to lecture internationally and domestically and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored several chapters in published books.

Dr. Eik Schiegnitz, Germany

Dr. Eik Schiegnitz is Head of the Division of Implantology at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Mainz, Germany. He obtained his medical degree (2009) and thesis (Dr. med., 2010) from the University of Giessen and his dental degree (2013) and thesis (Dr. med. dent., 2015) from the University of Mainz. In 2008 he received his degree as Bachelor of Health Sciences (Riedlingen, Germany). In 2020 he obtained the Master of Science Implantology und Parodontology at the University of Witten/Herdecke. Since 2019 he is Board Member of the DGI (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Implantologie) Regional association Rhineland-Palatinate and Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI Fellow). Since 2020 he is Spokesman of the Leadership-Teams of the National Osteology Group Germany. His fields of research include implant designs, implant coatings, diameter-reduced implants, bone and tissue regeneration and bone substitute materials.

Dr. Faresh Desai, United Kingdom

Since graduation from the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2002, Dr Faresh Desai has continued to pursue further training and increase his knowledge and skills. In 2003 Faresh gained Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP) from the Royal College of Surgeons. Dr Desai has been placing and restoring implants since 2004 and in 2013 gained the prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry with Advanced Certificate in Bone Grafting from the Royal College of Surgeons (UK). He has a wealth of experience in restorative dentistry and dental implantology, including bone grafting and sinus lift for ridge augmentation. He is also a certified Clinical Mentor for Straumann Implants. As well as treating our own patients Dr Desai also accepts referrals from local Dentists.

Prof. German Gallucci, USA

Prof. Gallucci is the Chair of the department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He obtained his Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the department of Prosthodontics, School of Dental Medicine at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Gallucci actively participates in clinical research related to implant-prosthodontics and Digital Dentistry. His work has been published in International peer reviewed journals and is member of the editorial board for several scientific dental journals. Dr. Gallucci participates as invited lecturer in international and national conferences and congresses. He is fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), Switzerland, and active member of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) - USA, European Academy of Osseointegration (EAO), fellow of Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, (GNYAP), American College of Prosthodontics (ACP), and Fellow of the Academy of Prosthodontics (AP).

Dr. Leonello Biscaro, Italy

Dr. Leonello Biscaro graduated magna cum laude in Dentistry at Bologna University in 1985. He’s active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP) and of the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry (AIOP). He has been President of the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry in the years 2013-2014. His practice is limited to prosthodontics and oral surgery in the Clinica Odontoiatrica Biscaro-Poggio, run with his wife, Dr. Paola Poggio and located in Adria (Italy).

Dr. Louwrens Swart, South Africa

Dr Swart received his dental degree in 1986 from Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, South Africa; and his master’s degree in MFOS (cum laude) in 1994. He has been in private practice in Cape Town since 1995. He is a member of various dental and MFOS societies. He is the current president of the SAAO. He has lectured and published both nationally and internationally Dr. Swart is also an international consultant in developing a web-based education and lecturing platform. He focuses on aesthetic implants, in particular on the immediate placement and, if possible, immediate loading of implants.

Dr. Ophir Fromovich, Israel

Dr. Ophir Fromovich graduated from the Medicine and Pharmacy institute in Bucharest, Romania. He is an expert on dental implants, and he is leading a private practice dedicated to the placement and restoration of dental implants. Dr. Fromovich is the inventor of many implant systems and restorative implant parts. Moreover, he has lectured extensively nationally and internationally. Dr. Fromovich has also conducted many advanced implant courses, and he is the author of book chapters in implant dentistry and scientific publications.

Prof. Shakeel Shahdad, United Kingdom

Shakeel is a Consultant and Honorary Clinical Professor at The Royal London Dental Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust and Queen Mary University of London. He specializes in treating patients requiring complex and advanced restorative treatment, including surgical placement and restoration with dental implants. He also is an Honorary Clinical Professor in Restorative Dentistry at the Institute of Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), where he is involved in training of future consultants, specialists and postgraduate students. He is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology, Chairman of the ITI Scholarship Centre at QMUL, Chairman of the ITI UK & Ireland Section, and a Diplomate of The British Society of Oral Implantology. He is also the Immediate Past-Chairman of the Implant Advisory Board for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Since 2005, Shakeel has been working as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at The Royal London Dental Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust.
